Duncan wants solicitor-generalPOSTED: 08/16/11 12:35 PM
St. Maarten – Justice Minister Roland Duncan wants St. Maarten to have its own solicitor general at his office in St. Maarten, Duncan said last week.
The Minister revealed that there are plenty of situations screaming for a solution, almost a year after St. Maarten made the transition to country status. One example is the situation of the staff at the local courthouse. They fall under the SVB in Curacao, and the SVB in St. Maarten refuses to give them coverage.
Courthouse personnel in Curacao is also hit by austerity measures, Duncan said, indicating that any travel that lasts less than three hours will have to be done in economy class, no longer in first class or business class.
