Second free lecture to focus on parental involvementPOSTED: 08/10/11 5:33 PM
St. Maarten – Parental involvement is the theme of the second free lecture in the “Power of Knowledge” series that is being coordinated and hosted by the Philipsburg Jubilee Library. The lecture will be held at the library on August 11 at 6:30 p.m.
A panel of educators and social workers will speak at the lecture. They will each offer specific ideas on the parent’s role in the child’s success at school. People will have a chance to ask questions after the presentations. There will also be books on the topic that people can borrow from the library to use as further reading.
“As the new school year is approaching we think it is highly important for both parents and teachers alike to know what they can do to ensure that our children are given the proper tools to succeed. We are urging you the parents and PTA members to come out and get informed, and learn how to be the positive impact that your child needs to succeed,” the library’s public relations officer Maryland Powell said.
“It takes a village to raise a child, so even if you are not a parent you can still come out and know what role you can play in a child’s life,” Powell added.
