William Marlin: “We have wasted two months”POSTED: 08/9/11 11:56 AM
St. Maarten – National Alliance leader William Marlin was not happy with the fact that his party’s proposal to regulate short term contracts via an amendment of the civil code was on the agenda for yesterday’s central committee meeting. After chair Gracita Arrindell proposed to send the draft to the Council of Advice, Marlin remarked that he had submitted his proposal on June 8.
“It is now August 8,” he said.
“I had expected the chair to send it to the Council of Advice but instead the chair put it as an incoming document and sent it to the central committee. Several weeks ago the chair said that it was already sent to the Council of Advice. We have wasted two months. A mistake was made and we should not build on it. Strike it from the agenda and let the chair send it to the Council of Advice.”
Arrindell responded that she had sent it on July 25 to the Council of Advice, but that the Parliament had decided four days later to send it to the Central Committee.
“That is why it is on the agenda,” she said.
