St. Maarten Zoo pleads for monkey’s returnPOSTED: 06/30/11 12:42 PM
St. Maarten – Thieves have stolen a common Marmoset monkey from the St. Maarten Zoo by cutting through the wire mesh on the exhibit and they’ve asked for help in getting it back. The theft was discovered on Wednesday morning during rounds.
“We are very upset about this and want our monkey back,” the zoo’s Public Relations Officer Barbara Cannegieter stated in a press release.
“We are very concerned about these kinds of burglaries. The Zoo is a nonprofit foundation existing on the island to provide recreation and education to our community.
Yet we too are victims of robberies,” she added.
“Thanks to anyone who reads this and can help us out. If you see anyone with this kind of monkey, report it immediately. Please help us get our monkey back to his home in the Zoo,” Cannegieter concluded.
