Teachers to receive certificates tonight
POSTED: 02/19/11 5:36 PMSt. Maarten – The St. Maarten United Multipurpose Educational Foundation (S.U.M.E.F.) has just concluded the final series of training for the teachers employed at the private non-government subsidize schools under its umbrella. The trainings began in 2009, continued in 2010 and were completed on Friday. The graduates – people who attended three or more sessions – will receive their diplomas at a ceremony tonight at the Belvedere Community Center.
The teachers that participated in the training were taught how to teach children in multi-level groupings and also different approaches and learning styles. The course, taught by instructors from the Academic Pedogogical Centre had both theoretical and practical components.
“The Board of the SUMEF would like to thank Guus Perry, Liaan Staal and Dimph Rubbens for their willingness and their contribution toward the development and training of the teachers and the Cees Pot Foundation for their for this grant,” they wrote in a statement.
